Symposium on "Space Sciences and Technologies"


The Department of Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru, conducted a Two-Day Symposium on Space Sciences and Technologies at Gnanagangothri Campus. 

The main aim of the Symposium is to bring together Students, Scientists, Academic Researchers and Industry Experts from India and abroad to identify the various challenges and opportunities that exist in developing and employing Space Sciences and Technologies of national interest. Further, Space Sciences and Technologies are identified as the thrust areas to be pursued for futuristic research by Space and Defence organizations in India. In particular, this High-end technology is one of the most challenging areas of R&D in Aerospace Engineering, with many unresolved issues kindling the research interests of Scientists, Engineers and Academicians.

The International Symposium on Space Sciences and Technologies was conceived as a platform for intellectual exchange to foster collaboration and innovation in the pursuit of advancing space sciences and technologies. In this Symposium, the multifaceted realms of space sciences and technologies were dealt with, topics such as rocketry, hypersonics, propulsion, satellite technology, space exploration missions were explored, and the burgeoning field of space-based entrepreneurship was discussed.

Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, former Founder CEO and MD of Brahmos Aerospace is the anchor person facilitating this Symposium. The objective of the Symposium is to identify various issues in Space Sciences and Technologies and propose a road map for Academicians and Industry Experts to work on challenging problems.

Padma Bhushan Dr. V. K. Saraswat, Hon’ble Member (S & T), NITI Aayog, Government of India was the Chief Guest for the Symposium. The Symposium started with an Invocation Song by a B. Tech. Aerospace Engineering student. The Ramaiah Anthem was then played. The dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp as a mark of enlightenment. The Welcome Speech was given by Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Govind R. Kadambi. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor. Shri. M. R. Sreenivasa Murthy, Chief Executive, Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) addressed the gathering. Dr. V. K. Saraswat delivered the Keynote address. His speech was on The Space Economy explaining the prospects and opportunities in Space Sciences and Technologies. Prof. J. V. Desai, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The Inauguration Function ended with a rendering of the National Anthem.
